Dynamique du charriage et des habitats


La dynamique des sédiments et des écoulements, qui détermine la morphologie des cours d’eau ainsi que leur fonctionnement écologique, est fortement entravée dans nombre de rivières suisses. Par ses interventions (barrages, endiguements, rectifications), l’homme a profondément perturbé le mouvement des sédiments, avec à la clé de nombreuses conséquences écologiques. La réactivation de cette dynamique et des fonctions écologiques est une condition indispensable à la réussite de la revalorisation de nos eaux (revitalisation et assainissement des installations hydroélectriques) et compte parmi les principaux objectifs de la loi fédérale sur l’aménagement des cours d’eau et de la loi fédérale révisée sur la protection des eaux. L’équipe du projet de recherche « Dynamique du charriage et des habitats » a étudié l’influence de l’homme sur l’activité sédimentaire des cours d’eau. Elle s’est également intéressée aux mesures de redynamisation des cours d’eau perturbés ainsi qu’à leurs conséquences sur la structure et le fonctionnement des biocénoses.

Les deux principaux thèmes traités étaient les suivants :

  1. réactivation du charriage et redynamisation des cours d'eau;

  2. revitalisation des zones alluviales.

Le modèle d’un réseau hydrographique présentant les interventions de l’homme sur la dynamique sédimentaire et les mesures de redynamisation donne une vue d’ensemble du sujet.
